Intergroup has received a number of inquiries from members and groups concerning how
we are responding and how they might respond to concerns with the challenge of COVID-19,
the novel coronavirus.
Keeping in mind that we are neither medical nor public health experts or officials, that
Intergroup neither directs nor tries to shape specific home group activities or practices, and
that the situation is evolving, we offer the following.
All groups are autonomous, and should take such actions as they deem fit in the face of
current information. Where there are concerns, it may be helpful to review the
available information and discuss the matter in your business meetings.
Be alert to information, suggestions and requirements from governmental medical and
public health officials as the situation develops. A short list of such resources is
available for your information on our website.
Intergroup is monitoring COVID-19 related developments, will respond as appropriate,
and will comply with all governmental mandates as things evolve. Watch our website
or contact the office for new information.
As they are reported, a current list of group meeting changes related to this matter is
available on our website and through the Meeting Guide app. Report any changes
At this time, the Intergroup office is closed, and all upcoming meetings, workshops and
other Intergroup sponsored events are cancelled or postponed.
Intergroup phones continue to be answered by AA members 24/7 through call forwarding as
you may be familiar with from the Night Book service, and additional volunteers will be needed.
Contact, email@example.com to volunteer.
If you do not have one already, this may be a good time to establish a liaison for your
group with your landlord be that a church, treatment center or other entity.
As there may develop a perceived need to limit face to face AA gatherings or as groups
may be forced to suspend their meetings, groups are encouraged to have contingency
plans in place to help members stay connected including telephone lists, and
information about telephone and online AA meetings.
Information about telephone and online AA meetings is available at the back of our
printed meeting list, on our website and is attached here.
Additional information including a communication concerning COVID-19 from
AAWS/GSO is available on our website
with questions, concerns and to share your experience
There is no need to panic or over-react, but prudence and faith are appropriate now as always
